Coach Wheat is beginning his 30th year in education.  This will be his 27th year with GISD.  He also taught at Como-Pickton and Lone Oak.  He graduated from Cumby High School in 1989 and from East Texas State University in 1994.  Coach Wheat teaches Texas History at the Greenville Middle School.  He will be coaching 7th football and powerlifting.  Coach has been married to Robin for 27 years.  She teaches at Cumby ISD.  They have three children.  Their oldest son Mitchell, and his wife Maggie, teach in Groveton.  They blessed the family with the first grandchild, Anna in January 2022.  Matthew will be a sophomore at UNT in Denton. Mallory will be a senior this year at Cumby High School.
