Reynaldo Cortez
Ray Cortez is a San Antonio Texas native and proud father of two daughters, Clarissa Marie and Isabel Denise. Family is an important part of his life and continues to be a source of motivation throughout his career.
Ray earned his Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Texas San Antonio. His professional journey has included service as a Marine, banker, coach and educator, giving him a diverse range of experiences that have shaped his leadership philosophy.
Ray is entering his 20th year in coaching. he began his coaching career at Somerset High School, where he developed his passion for teaching and helping young athletes grow both on and off the field. His first opportunity as an Offensive Coordinator came at Seguin High School, where he continued to develop his offensive philosophy and leadership style. Most recently, Ray served as the Offensive Coordinator at Pearsall High School.
Throughout his coaching career, Ray has believed that successful football begins with effective teaching. His philosophy is simple:
"If you have a logical way to teach the offense, the athletes will have a logical way to learn it"
For Ray, coaching is about more than football. It is about developing young people, building relationships, creating accountability, and giving athletes the tools they need to succeed in football and in life. His experiences as a Marine, banker, educator and coach have reinforced his commitment to discipline, preparation, teamwork and leadership.
As he continues his coaching journey, Ray remains committed to teaching the game with purpose while helping athletes become better players, better teammates, and better people
