WYLIE — The Greenville Lions won the 4x200-meter relay as they opened the 2020 track and field season at the Mike Williams Invitational on Thursday.

 The foursome of Joseph Moore, Caleb Johnson, Brandon Stephens and Miles Denson clocked a time of 1 minute, 34.38 seconds to win by nearly two seconds over Waxahachie Life.

 Johnson and Denson led a one-two finish for the Lions in the 100-meter dash in the times of 11.01 and 11.20.

 Johnson, Denson, Stephens and Kenton Anderson ran on the Lions’ 4x100-meter relay team that was third in 45.48.

 Greenville’s 4x400 relay was fourth at 3:58.74 as the Lions scored 66 points to finish third in the team standings behind Waxahachie Life (76) and Kaufman (75).

 The Lady Lions were third in the 4x200-meter relay (1:58.54) and fourth in the 4x100-meter (53.91) as they placed third in the team standings with 20 points.

 The Lions’ junior varsity boys finished fourth and the Lady Lions’ JV girls were eighth.

 The next scheduled meet for the Lions and Lady Lions is the North Garland Raider Relays on Thursday at Williams Stadium in Garland.
